About
About Me
A professional biography spanning law enforcement leadership, elected public service, and higher education teaching.
I serve as Chief Deputy for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office under the leadership of Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, providing executive oversight for an agency of more than 1,100 personnel serving a population of over 800,000 residents. In this role, I oversee operations across patrol, detention, support, and investigative divisions, including a jail facility housing approximately 1,300 inmates, while managing an annual operating budget of approximately $130 million.
My work is centered on organizational strategy, leadership development, workforce training, and building systems that improve efficiency, accountability, and public trust at scale. I lead large-scale operational initiatives, technology modernization efforts, and cross-functional partnerships designed to strengthen public safety outcomes in one of the fastest-growing regions in the country.
Public Service Beyond the Agency
In addition to my law enforcement role, I maintain a strong commitment to public service through local government. I have served as an elected municipal utility district director and currently serve as an elected emergency services district commissioner, contributing to governance, budgeting, policy development, and long-term planning that directly impact community infrastructure and quality of life.
Higher Education and Curriculum Work
I also serve as a higher education instructor across multiple universities, teaching courses in criminal justice, public administration, government, political science, public safety leadership, and related fields. Beyond the classroom, I have been selected as a subject matter expert, curriculum developer, evaluator, and consultant, supporting universities and educational organizations in the design and delivery of workforce-relevant programs, undergraduate and graduate coursework, and alternative credit models.
Leadership and Learning Philosophy
My approach to leadership and learning is grounded in accountability, clarity, and connection. I believe in developing capable, ethical professionals who are prepared to make decisions that impact organizations and communities, and I view well-designed learning as one of the most practical ways to build that capacity. I am particularly committed to mentoring working adults pursuing formal education, and have personally guided more than 100 professionals in starting or completing undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Family and Perspective
I am the husband of a public school teacher and literacy specialist, and the proud father of three daughters. My perspective on leadership, learning, and service is shaped by a commitment to family, community, education, and long-term impact.
